Happy New Year! Overview of training resources to help you in your career and to help your business.

Welcome to 2013!

This is the time to start strong and make resolutions. What do you want to accomplish in this New Year? I recommend you make a resolution to pass a Microsoft certification exam or learn a new skill. Both can help you advance in your career, and may also help your partner organization attain or renew a Microsoft Partner Network competency. Here is a list of my favorite readiness resources to help you achieve your goals:

  • The Partner Learning Center is the go-to source for all Microsoft partner training – you can use the search tool to find the training you need. We also have a list of training on the Microsoft Partner Network site that’s pretty cool – you can use the filters to find exactly the training you’re searching for, such as by product or training type (sales or technical).

  • Learning paths are another robust resource and my personal favorite – they’re available for Microsoft products, competencies, certification exams, and solution areas. Bookmark the paths of interest to you and check back as they’re frequently updated.

  • If you’re looking for training that is specific to a certain Microsoft competency, check out the Competency Training Digest. It contains the latest news and updates relevant to each Microsoft competency. A new January version will be out soon, so bookmark the page and check back shortly.

  • Practice Accelerator sessions are another way to learn. They provide a comprehensive set of reusable tools and best practices to help your company build a services practice around key Microsoft technologies.

  • For those of you looking to improve your sales skills, I’d like to point out the Sales Success System – a sales improvement program. And don’t forget to register for the January 9th Time to Thrive webcast with WPC 2012 speaker Dr. Tom Sant – details and registration here.

  • For you pre-sales technical specialists, did you know there is a new accreditation to help you demonstrate your expertise?

  • To dive in to specific products, there are a few things to call your attention to. First, get answers to your technical questions about Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8 through the Microsoft Virtual Academy Office hours, on January 15th. Top Microsoft experts will be on-hand to answer questions. Details here.

  • TechNet Virtual Labs are hands-on labs, 90 minutes or less, that help you learn about new products such as SQL Server 2012 and Office. Also check out the Office Ignite series to learn about the new Office.

  • To save you money, we have negotiated a 40% savings on select practice tests from Transcender and MeasureUp. These help you gauge your knowledge and are one of the recommended final steps in preparing to take a Microsoft certification exam. This is just one special offer – there are others to be found here.

  • E-books from Microsoft Press are also a great resource – sign up for alerts about their deals of the day.

  • And finally, we have the training newsletter to which you can subscribe through www.netgenoeg.info or www.justeassez.info
